My letter to my whanau -
To Dad, Mum, Devon and Blake.
I'm on this waka the ear swelling cold is making me shiver which makes the waka sway a lot. I can't wait to get to Aotearoa and explore the new massive island. I wonder who else is going to be there? It rained last night and all I could do was sit there and stay still. I like the days when it's hot and you can move around in the waka and not be freezing cold.
I will try write another letter to you soon.

Kia Ora Chloe,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading the letter that you wrote to your family. The descriptive language that you used, in particular the phrase "ear-swelling cold" really made me feel as though I was on a waka in the ocean. I think that I would also be feeling very excited if I were travelling to a new place, but I would probably also be feeling very nervous. How else do you think you might be feeling?
If you were going to leave on a big voyage tomorrow, what are some of the things you would want to take with you? I would make sure I take lots of food and water, and also some books to keep me occupied during the journey.
Hazel :)
Ata Marie Chloe,
ReplyDeleteI’m Dani, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I normally comment on blogs in the Kaikohekohe cluster ( Northland) but I have been lucky enough to get the chance to visit some blogs in the Uru Manuka cluster!
It’s great to see that you have completed the first day of activities for the Summer Learning Journey. Well done! I really like how you thought about what the weather would be like out on the open ocean, I never thought of it being cold! I’m sure you will be used to a bit of cold because you live in Christchurch but I’m used to living in the ‘winterless north’ so I don’t know if I could handle it!
If you wanted to try some more activities you can copy and paste this link into the top bar.

Remember you can do as many activities as you like and in any order you like!
I hope to read more activities from you soon!
