Six Days a Week

Why do you think that Chantelle Maher is more active than your average 13 year old? Because she trains more than usual and takes it to the extreme so she can be the best she can be.

2. In your own words, summarise the events that Chantelle started to win, at what age, what her parents think and about her as an athlete. Chantelle began to win awards at age 12 for running and swimming 3000 meters ( 3 kilometers ) beating the school record. Her parents I guess feel very proud and happy for her since they used to be incredible athletes when they were younger.

3. What did Chantelle do to leave her comfort zone? Chantelle decided to swim in the ocean! She completed the race coming 5th place in her age group! She also swam 3.3 kilometers.

4. Why is it important to leave your comfort zone? If you feel like you want to become an olympic swimmer you need to try new things to get better at what you do.

5. What would you do if you left your comfort zone? Explain in detail. I’m a dancer and I do a mix between jazz and ballet, I sometimes do other dances but these are my main two. If I were to leave my comfort zone and try hip hop or tap I would probably be bad at first but then feel a lot more confident after heaps of practise.

In Term 3 the whole of Sockburn School were focusing on pollution and sustainability. Each class constructed a presentation on our topic.

P1: Kahikatea created 3 presentations, a mural, sculpture and storyboard. Each presentation included facts and information about sustainability and pollution put into one! The mural had two sides to it, a sustainable side and an unsustainable side. The moral of the mural is for someone to chose a lifestyle.

P2: The sculptures were made out of ice cream containers and spare art equipment. We had to try and make a pollution/sustainability through a sculpture. A kind of sculpture that was sustainable and stopped pollution.

P3: Kahikatea also wrote an information report on pollution and how it affects the world. We all chose a separate topic to work on. A lot of people chose marine life. The presentation of the pollution writing was set out on a massive board for everyone to see.

P4: Pohutukawa & Matai also created artwork. Matai had a spectacular idea, it wasn’t based on pollution or sustainability. Matai collected clear plastic bottles and painted them different colours. They also curled the bottles and stuck them to a piece of wood. These are called chihuly’s!

P5: Pohutukawa created clay bowls. It wasn’t much but the bowls were very eye catching and actually caught people's attention. The bowls were all different colours, shapes and sizes which made them special.

Conclusion: Overall the art exhibition was a very awesome event and a lot of families came. There could’ve been a lot more changes including lights and more artwork. But at the end of the day we tried our best and made and awesome effort.

These past three weeks Kamen and I have been on chrome books. I taught Kamen how to make a google doc, a slide and a lot of other things!

Focus Questions -

• Well klomino is officially abandoned but if people were to move back there the world would need to lend supplies. Ect. money, food and lots more.

• Klomino was a army base where the soldiers of poland would go to protect themselves and have shelter. The reason this city is abandoned is because of war. It’s rumoured to be the only ghost town in poland according the all the people that died in that premises.

• The main religion is muslim. When you are muslim you have to obey the leader ayatollah. You have to live in an islamic state and believe in the leader muhammad.

• I think the main idea in the text is you may be poor or not that wealthy but it doesn’t mean that you can’t achieve or do anything. If you come to school and use a plastic bag as you school bag it doesn’t make any difference you’re just like the others funny, cool, smart ect.
