Affects that Climate Change has on the Water Cycle

TODAY YOU WILL BE INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTS THAT CLIMATE CHANGE HAS ON THE WATER CYCLE.

  1. Using your SOLO hexagons poster write a paragraph about the different aspects of climate change.
  2. Write about the following Climate Change concepts:
You can do these by powerpoint, embedding a movie , on your blog, on a doc or any other form of presentation. It is up to you.

ACIDIFICATION: HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACIDIFICATION OF OUR OCEANS?

Ocean acidification refers to decreasing levels of pH in the ocean, which makes the sea the more acidic. when carbon dioxide is absorbed by the ocean, it dissolves to form carbonic acid. The result, not surprisingly, is that the ocean becomes more acidic, upsetting the delicate pH balance that millions and millions of organisms rely on.

How it affects climate change.
A huge amount of animal species are become extinct because the carbon dioxide that's being released into the ocean is ruining their habitats. Also species we haven't even discovered yet are becoming extinct. It's not only their habitats making them become extinct carbon dioxide is decreasing the levels of pH which is what millions of the living organisms in the oceans rely on.

DEFORESTATION: HOW DOES DEFORESTATION AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE?

Deforestation is in the Amazon rain forest is a major cause to climate change due to the decreasing number of trees available to capture increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world’s land area, but they are disappearing at an alarming rate. Between 1990 and 2016, the world lost 502,000 square miles of forest.

How it affects climate change.

Since tree's play a huge part in everyday life as books, pencils, beds, desks and more we need to cut down tree's to make those things that us humans use in everyday life. The problem is we are cutting down too many of them leaving us with none left, nothing to provide us oxygen. Also burning or cutting down trees reserves the effects of carbon sequestration and releases greenhouse gasses.

ICE CAP MELT: HOW DOES ICE CAP MELT AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE?

The high temperatures are causing the ice caps to melt. But why has the temperature increased? Carbon dioxide is a gas that comes out of fossil fuels factories. Since fossil fuels are being burnt all the time and the gas left from the fossil fuels is released into the air causing the temperature to rise and that is how the ice in Antarctica are melting

How is ice cap melt affecting climate change.

The water levels rise which can cause flooding in different places all over the world. Also the antarctic species are loosing their habitats which is also causes them to slowly become extinct.

WATER VAPOUR: HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO WATER VAPOUR AND EVAPORATION?

Water vapour in the worlds atmosphere is referred to as a feedback process. Since warmer air can hold more moisture when the planet warms air temperatures rise so more evaporation from water sources and land occur releasing the moisture.

How is water vapour affecting climate change:

Climate change intensifies this cycle because as the airs temperature increases more warm water vapour evaporates into the air which can lead to rainstorms, and causing extreme problems like major flooding in the coastal communities around the world.
